FLY FISHING THE SAN JUAN RIVER, NEW MEXICO

I am convinced that there are more big fish on the San Juan than anywhere else. The San Juan River has some of the best fly fishing for rainbow trout in the United States. If you want to go fly fishing for 20+ inch trout, than the San Juan River is the place to be. I visit there very regularly. I fish all day and play poker all night at the casino in Ignacio. It is a really fun vacation. The San Juan is tricky for begginning anglers but once you get the hang of it, it is an absolute blast and you can hook into fish all day long. You have a really good chance of catching a two foot long, 5+ pound trout here. The main reason that I love the San Juan is you can have constant action with really big fish. Fly fishing the San Juan is an absolute blast. The average fish here is 17 inches long. The San Juan River can get crowded, but there are always prime spots available. Plus, it's kind of fun to see what everyone else is (or isn't) catching. Another great thing about fly fishing the San Juan is that the river is fishable year round.
